The Department of Health and Human Services awards $4.4M to CHS to provide Head Start and Early Head Start in six Missouri counties.

The Center for Human Services has been awarded a $4.4M Federal grant through the Department of Health and Human Services to provide Head Start and Early Head Start services in six Missouri counties.

The grant will provide critical developmental services to approximately 262 children between the ages of 3 to 5, and 136 infants, toddlers, and pregnant women in Bates, Cass, Cedar, Henry, St. Clair, and Vernon counties in Missouri. The CHS Family and Child Development Team, led by Shawn Sharp, is set to manage the six-county contract starting October 1, 2022.

CHS’s 300+ employees currently serve 39 counties and nearly 8,000 individuals across the state, providing support through nine service lines: Missouri First Steps, Early Head Start, Aquatics, Behavioral Therapy, Employment Services, Community Living, Service Coordination, Socialization, and Host Homes.
